About

I’m a Colombian-American attorney licensed in New York and Colombia, based in New York City and frequently in Bogotá, Mexico City, and other financial centers across Latin America. My practice sits at the intersection of capital and families moving across the Americas: Investment funds & venture capital. As an associate at Cole-Frieman & Mallon LLP, I advise investment managers on fund formation, sponsor structuring, and investor negotiations — fund documentation, side letters, and the corporate transactions that follow fund activity (SAFEs, priced rounds, SPVs, co-invests), for U.S. and non-U.S. clients. Cross-border private clients & dual citizens. In Colombia through Hoyos & Associates S.A.S., I lead a corporate and tax group that builds the structures binational families and globally mobile entrepreneurs need to hold, move, and pass on wealth between the U.S. and Latin America — holding companies, trusts, foundations, succession planning, and the banking and reporting compliance that keeps them clean. The two practices share one premise: clients with a foot in two countries shouldn’t need two uncoordinated sets of lawyers. I deliver business-oriented counsel that advances transactions efficiently while identifying risk early — in both legal systems and both languages. Before practicing law, I worked in my family’s businesses in Colombia — distribution and retail across coffee, energy, real estate, and tourism. That’s where I learned how family enterprises actually govern themselves, and why I practice the way I do. Training: LL.B. (Humboldt), LL.M. (Fordham Law), MBA (NYU), MPA (Columbia | SIPA) — corporate law, venture capital, tax, and policy. §May constitute attorney advertising in certain jurisdictions.
