Experienced Project and Policy Manager with a range of skills across service design, program implementation and large scale reform projects.
Developing policies and procedures that empower Aboriginal organisations to build an evidence base for their services in partnership with FACS, demonstrating the importance of community designed and lead programs across NSW.
Coordinated and initiated research, policy development and evidence-based policy analysis for the Cohort Unit within Their Futures Matter. Key accountabilities include: • Initiated and developed strategic policies that guided program and service development to address the needs of children within residential care; • Engaged and consulted with key stakeholders to identify emerging issues and develop solutions that supported sound policy decisions and approaches; • Liaised and worked across FACS Divisions and non-government stakeholders to ensure effective interface between policy development, program development, planning and service design.
Designed, implemented and coordinated comprehensive projects, policies and practices in line with business unit objectives which delivered effective outcomes for the Western Sydney Aboriginal community. Key accountabilities included: • Lead research and analysis to support the development of the Western Sydney Aboriginal Cultural Inclusion Framework • Prepared a range of project related documents for key stakeholders as required, including status updates, reports, budgets and discussion papers to manage the flow of information relating to FACS policies • Provided advice and support to the Western Sydney FACS Executive to ensure the delivery of culturally appropriate services and programs to Aboriginal clients • Contributed to numerous FACS Western Sydney projects and contributed to solutions for both FACS wide and locally based issues.
- Contact point for cross cultural issues across the organisation; - Continuous consultation with, support and advocating for Aboriginal people with disabilities, their families and communities; - Development of policies and procedures relating to partnerships and service delivery within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community; - Fostered partnerships with external organisations and government agencies; - Developed strategies aimed at ensuring the relevance, accessibility and responsiveness of Northcott to the Aboriginal community; - Implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines; - Developed community run projects around disability across NSW; - Key contact point for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and volunteers; and - Representation on a number of internal committees such as the policy review committee, Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group and the Northcott cultural competency audit committee.
- Management of the Indigenous Repatriation Program (USA, Sweden, South Africa); - Preparing Parliamentary briefs and requests for information; - Facilitating the return of Indigenous ancestral remains; - Financial management and budgeting relating to individual projects - Coordinating community consultations for a National Keeping Place for unprovenanced ancestral remains across Australia; and - Secretariat support for the Australian Government’s Advisory Committee for Indigenous Repatriation.
