Born on a family farm in the central King Country region of the North Island NZ, I was home schooled along with 3 brothers and a sister by our Mother until going to Collegiate at the age of 12. I returned to the farm in 1973 and worked there on and off until my wife and l bought half of the 7000 acres in 2000. We have three children and 3 grandchildren, our eldest son Joel now runs the farm business and I am on a new adventure in Australia.
During a 15 month working holiday in Darwin I worked as a digger operator on the Ichthys oil and gas project and also on Civil construction on various projects. An interesting insight into the construction industry and the inherent inefficiencies that come with big outfits. Then we flew to Canada, bought a Ducati and rode it to Santiago Chile, covering 25000km in 3 months. A great experience, the people were friendly to a fault the whole way. Proves you can't always trust what you read on the internet.
