Ms Masego Mokgwetsi is a Woman of God, Communications Specialist and Strategist and Humanitarian who aims to create safe and intersectional spaces for vulnerable and marginalised people on the ground to confidently and boldly embody the voice and solution to their daily lived realities. Her vast experience in Environmentalism and Sustainability is at the epicentre of New Media, Mass Communication and Digital Media. She has demonstrated extensive expertise across various Civil Society and corporate Organisations such as the African Climate Alliance, We The People South Africa, South African Climate Action Network, Oxfam South Africa, UNICEF South Africa, Absa Force For Good, UNICEF Wits, Golden Key International Honour Society. Her overriding passion is at the heart of writing, content planning and strategy, public speaking, career mentorship and development , data analysis, artivism, storytelling, community building, activism and advocacy.
My role as a support facilitator is to engage in writing and coordinating news bulletins and proposing new and informed creative ideas in regards to the #CancelCoal campaign. As a Cancel Coal campaigner my role is to proactively interact with marginalised communities online and on the ground regarding the climate change and coal crisis. Part of being a support facilitator further requires me to attend to Ad-hoc activities such as facilitating meetings and recording meeting minutes and serving as a liaison between the Communication and University Outreach program💚🍀🌍
We The People South Africa is a Nonprofit Organisation which aims to promote the “Knowledge and the Understanding of the Constitution and its impact on society and to further encourage citizens to Know, Own and Protect the Constitution”. As a Communications and Content Producer Intern at We The People, I objectify to fulfil the role of a Social Media Manager, Community Manager, Graphic designer, Photographer, Videographer, Social Media Board Report Writer, Content Planner, Content Researcher and Content Strategist.
As a former Climate Action and Coordination intern at SACAN my role embarked on strategic communication, coordination, content development, event reporting and administration. The following roles and responsibilities were fulfilled: Reported on key events such as the Youth Essay Series hosted by the Presidential Climate Commission and the DBSA-CSO event. Contributed towards curating content for the organisations website and social media platforms. Drafted a blog post for the DBSA-CSO event - Climate Finance and the Just Transition: Civil Society Perspectives. Outlined various ways in which Community Based Organisations can be emancipated within the public and private sector. Suggested ideas for the Intergenerational Dialogue and Youth Climate Champions (YCC) bootcamp. Assisted with administrative duties i.e note-taking, attending SACAN working groups and logistical arrangements.
