I am a student, educator, mentor, and social justice advocate passionate about opening up to the experiences of others and building relationships with others. Mary is particular interested in the potential of higher education and international education to meet student needs as well as the UN's sustainable development goals.
Support 30 undergraduate students in a LBGTQ+ identifying independent living group by connecting 1:1 on with students and serving as first responder for physical and mental health crises. Host weekly study break programs for students based on specific interests and needs to build residential community.
I support students by building relationships with students through individual meetings and programming as well as by improving access for students through research and assessments. I have particular interest in work with international students.
I serve as a campus resource to floor of 20 first-year female students, conduct rounds throughout the building to ensure security and enforcement of University policies, and assist with mediating conflict, academic issues, health concerns, and transitioning into college.
I teach “Fitlates” classes with fitness and Pilates-inspired moves that strengthen core muscle groups, encourage mindfulness by incorporating breathing and alignment cues, integrate modifications into movements for participants with injuries and/or varying comfort levels, and train incoming instructors on designing and instructing fitness classes.
I tutor children of a family in English while communicating with the parents in Spanish. Family is located in the town Ourense, in the region of Galicia, Spain. I will meanwhile take language classes in Spanish at the nearby language center.
I connect parents of elementary students in Boston enrolled to DK English School, speak Spanish with parents to provide them information and updates on the course, and notify supervisor and teachers about questions and concerns.
I lead week long outdoor trips including outdoor education, team building activities, and reflection on YMCA core values as well as provide mental and physical needs of participants in remote areas and any additional support.
