Martin Parr has extensive experience of working on data governance, digital agriculture, mobile extension, app and web-based products, evidence-informed policy processes, and research communication services. He manages data and knowledge services for digital development, and is Director of Data Policy and Practice at CABI and a member of the CABI Science Council. Leads data policy and practice group within CABI's Digital Development theme, provides direction and executive management of data-rich projects, and programmes in the data for development, data policy, practice and services space. Developing and delivering data-informed consultancies and services (especially in support of FAIR and Open Data Principles) using Human Centred Design and Systems Thinking. CABI Lead on Open Data.
Head of Open Data initiatives in CABI including managing FAIR and open data access projects with a range of partners including Wageningen University and the Gates Foundation. Operations Director for the Secretariat of the Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN) Initiative.
Responsible for implementing CABI’s participation in global agriculture and environment information access projects, such as GODAN, AGORA, GIASIP, FIELD and OSLO for the UNCCD and the CTA-led KFD portal; Development of open access and open and linked data policy and strategy; leading development of new CABI Compendia projects; development of mobile agri-advisory services; coordination of knowledge activities with DFID, including delivery of support and guidance in communication, advocacy, project monitoring and evaluation, and impact reporting, knowledge management and development of the DFID Research for Development evidence portal, Evidence on Demand for DFID CEIL PEAKS. Executive management of systematic reviews and evidence studies for DFID, 3ie, USDA and Unilever; managing project staff, external consultants, and key account relationships with project partners.
