Strategically balanced driving 3x increase in demand for UX with 5x growth of our FinTech UX team. Evangelized and educated product teams on the benefits of UX modernization that resulted in increasing support from 3 products to 10 products in under 3 years. Secured funding to grow the team from just 2 Designers to 11 including 7 Designers + 2 Researchers + 2 Interns to support our increased demand. Designs include investment governance and headcount and expense planning which enables company leaders to review, approve, and track projects and the amount of employees working on each. Another design includes tracking credit card marketing budget. These were done using our design system and Figma. Drove the creation of our design system ambassador program which supplements the actual design system team with now over 10 total representatives from each UX team to ensure optimal implementation of the design system by all teams across our entire org. Co-led the creation of the now annual UX internship program which has hired over 10 summer interns and 8 conversions to full time employees in just its first 2 years. Active member of the UX community. Spoke at conferences and colleges that resulted in spreading awareness for UX at JPMC and sourcing future talent. Also served as an emcee for the AsPIRE (Asians and Pacific Islanders Reaching for Excellence) celebration of the Lunar New Year which all of our local employees were invited to attend. Facilitated and/or presented over 13 cross-training knowledge shares on topics including design thinking, user listening strategies, agile development and Jira, designer & researcher collaboration best practices, handling common UX situations, and more. Continuous learning that includes my completion of the "Design Thinking" certification by LUMA and "Agile Designer" course by cPrime.
Led and managed a User Experience "UX" team that partners with the firm's FinTech product teams to modernize their applications. Ensure our UX team's recommendations and deliverables led to a positive measurable impact on the usability of products. This was done by regular team design reviews and mentorship. The team has driven drastic improvements in CSAT (Customer Satisfaction) up to 41%, SUS (System Usability Scale), and pass/fail usability metrics for various products we support. Designed an improved experience for employees to efficiently communicate the split between projects. This resulted in both decreasing effort for employees while still capturing the data for company leaders to make informed decisions. This was created using our design system and Figma. Worked to spread knowledge and awareness of the benefits that our UX team could bring to additional financial apps within the firm to broaden our reach and further expand our impact.
Managed 10-15 direct reports across multiple teams of designers in the company’s Airline Solutions suite of products. Driving an increase in efficiency and consistency through intelligent re-use of designs through a library of 33+ product patterns is a large focus of mine. Ensuring designs adhere to WCAG AA accessibility compliance for our airline customers who are part of the Dept of Transportation "DOT". Placing people in environments where they can thrive and unleash their natural talent makes it all worthwhile.
I led a team of talented designers in creating innovative and intuitive experiences for the travel industry including various airlines around the world. We usability test our designs and regularly have Task Success Rates of 1.8+ out of 2 and System Usability Scale "SUS" scores of 90+. We worked with our project team to deliver responsively designed solutions that make booking, managing, and checking into flights easier for customers and more profitable for the airlines. I also pushed for using innovative emerging technologies such as natural language, augmented reality, and virtual reality when they can creatively add value to both the end user and the business. I have started various company initiatives by identifying areas for process improvement that include but are not limited to: Getting the UX team to be involved earlier in our process to enable us to drive design vision and allow for more accurate level of effort estimates, improving the design process to share and leverage product design patterns to increase efficiency through pattern reuse, and the standardization of our UX tools to enable all of our designers to share and collaborate efficiently. I have also held trainings to spread advanced knowledge on: how project teams can leverage the UX team for greater success, Sketch and InVision, Axure rapid prototyping and custom widget libraries, and guidelines for observing usability tests.
I designed various flows and screens for responsively designed airline websites around the world. This included competitive analysis, journey maps, personas, user research, wireframing, interaction design, visual design, and working with cross-functional product teams including Product, Business Analysts, Developers, QA, etc. I defined the process that the team of designers used for style guides and interaction notes. I also introduced a process of internal design reviews to communicate amongst designers, gather feedback, and gain internal alignment before presenting to the larger product team. Outside of my own product, I also worked through IT and Security processes to get a UX server where all designers could both share and backup their work.
Giving back to the community by leading and mentoring professionals looking to transition and students looking to break into the User Experience and Product Design industry.
I defined the UX process for the company including persona development, user flows, site maps, rapid prototypes for iterative user feedback, and wireframes. I also drove the incorporation of formal user testing including script writing with open-ended questions designed to refrain from leading participants to specific answers, conducting the user test sessions, and also teaching others within the company how to run the sessions. I led the UX design of a GE mobile app that was featured at Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference "WWDC 2014" presented by CEO Tim Cook and SVP Craig Federighi. Worked daily in an Agile development environment utilizing OmniGraffle, InDesign, Axure, Photoshop, Illustrator and other software to design delightful experiences for iOS, Android, and Windows for Fortune 500 companies.
I redesigned the company's advertising.yahoo.com site that resulted in 4 times the number of leads generated by the site. I also designed interfaces for the back-end system that advertisers use to bid on ads displayed on Yahoo! This includes wireframes (OmniGraffle and InDesign), card sorting, collecting user requirements, and communicating with the team in an agile environment. Used HTML/CSS and Javascript to build interactive prototypes. Worked with user research team to gather critical end user behavior insight and feedback to drive an iterative design improvement process. Incorporated and utilized A/B testing to make informed decisions on design updates.
