Martin C Evers, an Ontario Scholar at St. Joseph’s High School, has an Honors Bachelor of Science from the University of Windsor, a Master of Science from the University of Western Ontario and is a licensed insurance agent in the province of Ontario. He was born in the Netherlands, arriving in Canada in 1957 at the age of 4. He has a background in microbiology and biochemistry, worked for a few years in cancer research then did 25 years in the field of biochemical genetics studying inherited diseases in children. This has been followed by 15 years in the insurance field, including 7 years as a Knights of Columbus Field Agent. Due to his background in Medical Research, Martin is familiar with a variety of resources that enable him to assist clients with medical issues causing problems in obtaining financial products necessary to protect them. He has been able to reduce ratings for some clients and provide products for others who were in the past deemed uninsurable. Martin has put the clients first in providing them services necessary for their well being and that of their families. Due to the calculation skills needed for his previous careers, Martin has been able to pick up on concepts of Tax planning to assist clients in reducing certain expenses. This is done through his own training in this field and through his referral partners in the fields of personal, business and corporate accounting, along with those in the legal field. Now left the financial services field as of January 2023. Having enjoyed meeting people and driving, Martin has and continues to enjoy driving for Uber since Dec 2019. As it is healthy to pursue other interests, Martin is an avid photographer, who has sold some of his works. He is active in the community as a volunteer with the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years, having been trusted with major executive roles in this organisation. He is also a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Society, working on data management on their events. He is a director on some non-profit boards in St. Thomas, and an active volunteer at his church. He and his wife Marilyn have been married for over 40 years
