I am an ecologist, writer & GIS technician with over 14 years of professional experience. A citizen of Canada & Switzerland, I speak English, German, & French (intermediate). I compile, manage & analyze natural heritage data & complete detailed status assessments on species at risk. As a writer, editor, researcher & indicator expert I contribute to reports on the state of Ontario's biodiversity & forests. I was the lead author & content developer of the Ontario government's invasive species web pages (2010 version) & the Ontario Natural Heritage Information Centre's web pages. I led the Ontario government's State of Resources Reporting Program & many successful projects. These include a multi-year collaboration among the Ontario Natural Heritage Information Centre, NatureServe & Parks Canada to improve data & knowledge of species at risk on Parks Canada sites, & a Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry wide collaboration of scientists to identify climate change monitoring needs in Ontario's aquatic & terrestrial ecosystems. In my free time I lead hikes, cross-country ski & snowshoe trips for the Bruce Trail Conservancy's Toronto Club. I seek new professional & volunteer opportunities, & any opportunities for training in the natural sciences, science communication, outdoor leadership or environmental advocacy. My greatest passion & talent is in science communication.
- I am the Natural Heritage Information Centre's communications lead. I make our science accessible to the general public, conservation partners and decision makers. - I lead projects and build relationships with local, provincial, and federal conservation partners. - I manage large volumes of conservation data in Access, Oracle and ArcGIS. - I contribute data and expertise to species status assessments, conservation planning and land management activities/decisions. - I complete detailed status assessments for species at risk.
Led the Ministry of Natural Resources State of Resources Reporting Program. Wrote, edited and reviewed plain language reports on various natural resource topics to engage the general public in natural resource management.
