MTU is a leading distributor of the world’s finest diesel and gas engines and power systems, operating across on- and off-highway markets in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. I was part of a small Project Management team together with my leading head of projects and an application engineer. Together we took care of the Power Generation business for the whole Pacific area from the desig of custom solutions to manufacturing, delivery, installation, quality certifying and maintenance, also including customer and suplly chain management. Examples are the backup generators for the Queensland Hospital and Army Barracks or temporary and permanent generators for a gas pump site on Curtis Island. I gained a huge insight into the project management through taking on a lot of responsibility. This was mainly due to an incredible small team. Daily meetings with customers allowed me to build up a conversational and sensitivity skillset. Furthermore I was very lucky to apply and extent my knowledge regarding project management including budgeting, legal issues, liability, contract setup and time management!
