Stadler are the depot operator for the Tyne and Wear Metro. We are constructing a new state of the art depot to accommodate our new fleet of trains which will be introduced in 2023. The £70m new build, comprising 17 electrified stabling sidings, depot facility building (4 roads with inspection pits, overhead gantries, control, production and welfare facilities), points heating and a new signalling system. The build is phased around keeping the existing depot and fleet operational .Volker Fitzpatrick are our appointed principal contractor under NEC 3 Option A with an extensive supporting supply chain.

Ensuring the CDM Client (Transport for London) design and implement the ARL functional specification for new elevated 2 track terminus station, connected to existing rail infrastructure via newly constructed rail connection on a viaduct. Ensuring the CDM Client (Transport for London) design (GRIP 4) the ARL functional specification for the enhancement project which provides a new station entrance, new footbridge, passenger lifts and staff facilities. C 9MW grid connected plants using Refuse Derived Fuels (RDF). Manage the Power Generation business proposals for projects ranging from studies, plant due diligence, development engineer, lenders technical advisor to full owner’s engineering services on thermal, gas, geothermal, hydro power facilities and plants in Europe and Africa. Business Development Manager/Project Manager for Parsons Brinckerhoff Power & Water Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Business Development – Lead the Business Development function for Power Generation in the MENA region. Role included the identification of business opportunities leading to the development of client compliant proposals on projects ranging from IPP Pre Financial Close phases, Lender’s Engineer and Technical Advisor to full Owners Engineer. Projects ranged from thermal, OCGT, CCGT, solar and wind at sites such as Sur IPP in Oman, Qurayyah IPP in Saudi Arabia, Az Zour North in Kuwait, Mirfa and Noor 1 in the UAE to the 6 Gas Power Plant project in Iraq. Project Management - Project Manager for concept and pre-feasibility stages of 600MW captive power plant facility in southern Iraq. Agreed facility parameters with client, developed options leading to an agreed layout/multi-functional specification to support the procurement of EPC contractor. Project Manager for the design, installation and commissioning of New Filter House at Shuweihat S1 Power Plant, Abu Dhabi.
Project Management -Kuwait: Sabiya CCGT Plant: Project Manager responsible for the design review activities of PB. Reviewed the EPC (Hyundai Heavy Industries/GE) design submissions for compliance to contract specification during the project implementation phase. Cost and schedule management. Botswana: Mmamabula Energy Project: Approx 1200MW super critical coal fired plant. Deputy Project Manager, reporting to the PB SA based Project Manager leading the UK team in the tender evaluation and pre financial close assessment phase. EPC contractor Shanghai Electric Company. Managed resources and co-ordination with PB South Africa, PB Asia and UK based non generation business units. Cost and schedule management of the UK budget. South Africa: Medupi Thermal Power Pant for Eskom: Developed in conjunction with client, the project organisation structure and resource man plan for the £5 billion, 7 year project. Man plan identified, positions, reporting lines (functional and delivery) and staff hire/off hire dates for the project team of over 500 management and support services personnel. Proposal Management -Responsible for proposals output of the Generation Division of PB. Proposals included: Rabigh 2 2800 MW (4 * 700 MW Units )Thermal Power Plant, Saudi Arabia Owner Engineer, Mmamabula Energy Project, Botswana (Phase 1 Won December 2008): PB as Owners Engineer for Meepong Energy Ltd are undertook tender evaluations for the 1200 MW (2* 600 MW Units) Super Critical Coal Fired Power Station in Botswana. Led the UK team in establishing the Tender Fee for both Phase 1 (Pre Financial Closure) and Phase 2 (Post Financial Closure).
Edinburgh Tram (April 2006 - May 2007): Section Design Manager (Haymarket - Airport). Managed the interfaces for tram adjacent to Network Rail Infrastructure. Network Rail, West Coast Route Modernisation (April 2004 - April 2007), London. Programme Manager of safety and performance initiatives, valued at £35 million to feasibility level. Installation of route wide safety critical track, line side and control centre equipment.
