Team leader within the Bridges Team based in Basingstoke. Extensive knowledge of highway structures in both new build and refurbishment situations. Presently involved with scheme development for a major Highways England project involving conceptual design for various highway structures including viaducts, arched landscaped bridges, fully integral portal structures and box underpasses. Conversant with highways England procedures including PCF procedures for scheme development. Duties include team management, coordination with other disciplines, presenting and developing scheme concepts, coordinating design development and CAD production. Also undertaken similar role for a private developer scheme within an urban environment with the TfL as the approval authority. Exposure to TfL procedures.
Team leader for the design development of a series of highway structures in association with a retail scheme development in north London. Structures included 4 span and two span steel concrete composite structures, steel truss footbridge, single span fully integral structures and cantilever retaining walls improving the local Highway Network in the area of the development,
On secondment as a Principal Engineer within the Network Solutions Team for the Highways England Area 5 Commission. Team leader and project manger for a number of refurbishment schemes including pier replacement for M27 Park Gate Interchange, baseline assessment for the A34 Thames Wytham post tensioned frame structure and detailed design checking for the A303 Kimbers Lane Footbridge.
Senior Engineer and lead designer for a number of structures associated with the Highways England A421 Improvements M1 Junction 7 to Bedford scheme including the concept design for Manor Road steel truss bridleway bridge, Marsh Leys Railway South Bridge (pre-stressed beams with composite deck) and Marsh Leys Armco Culvert Extension.
Senior Engineer involved with the conceptual design and detailed design for a number of refurbishment projects within the Highways Agency Area 5 Commission including pier replacement at M4 Chieveley Interchange, A423 Isis Bridge Strengthening Maintenance Painting and Weld Repair and value engineering for future schemes including bearing replacement schemes and M4 Shefford Woodlands Interchange concrete repairs.
Senior Engineer for the detailed design and preparation of tender documents for a number of refurbishment schemes including within the former Highways Agency Area 5 Commission including M4 Prince of Wales Bridge Concrete Repairs and A34 Seacourt Stream Deck Replacement.
Employed as a bridge engineer for the replacement of two reinforced concrete portal structures over the River Loddon which had been damaged through settlement caused by scour. Existing abutments were retained as river training works and new piled abutments constructed behind to support new single span steel concrete composite decks. Carried out full detailed design, procurement and followed the scheme on to as Resident Engineer.
