Martin Ballendat is an internationally sucessful designer for 40 years. Born in Bochum in 1958 he studied Design at the Folkwangschule in Essen. After 3 years as an employee for the company Sedus at the border to Switzerland, he took over the design- and development department of the Austrian company Wiesner Hager and shaped their design for more than 10 years. In 1995 he founded his own design studio in Upper Austria and later a second one in Germany. Meanwhile Design Ballendat is working for more than 40 well- known brands in 16 countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, China, Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA, Poland, France, Thailand, Egypt and Malaysia). Martin Ballendat has worked over 17 years as lecturer and visiting professor at the Universities of applied sciences in the field of design in Graz and Salzburg. He achieved more than 180 design-prizes and other awards, among them: Designer of the year 2019 - Mixology Award, 50x Red Dot (3x Best of the Best), 23x IF-Award, German Design Award in Gold, Best of Neocon Chicago Gold and Silver, Good Design Award, Best of the Best Interieur Innovations Award, Focus LGA Stuttgart in Gold and Silver, Design Plus Award, Materialica Award in Gold, IIDEX Gold Award Canada, National Award Saarland and further prizes in Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Japan, China, Hungary and many more. Martin Ballendat has four children. He is member of the Rotary Club. He was member of the City Council of Simbach am Inn until 2024.
