After completing a hotel management school, I was drawn to a position at the Frankfurter Hof Hotel an exclusive hotel belonging to the Steigenberger Hotel Group. Whilst in Frankfurt/Germany, I was able to build up my knowledge of F & B controlling. Following that I worked as manager of a newly opened boarding house in Hamburg/Germany and at a 5-star Relais & Château Hotel in the German Harz region. In 2000, I fulfilled my dream of opening my own restaurant, achieving 15 points in the Gault Millau guide and an entry in the Michelin guide after only six months in business. In line with the motto, “Always leave on a high note!” I decided to sell the restaurant and focus more on my great passion: wine. To do this, I returned to Frankfurt, where I worked as a restaurant manager while setting up an internet site for European wine tours. Having worked for many years as a sommelier, my wine background is deeply rooted in restaurants, but also includes retail sales and purchase experience. Many years of experience in many business fields has sharpened my operations abilities and skills as a manager. I love exploring wine and food pairings, and enjoy wines from Europe, with an affinity for Austrian wines. Thanks to many private contacts in the USA and driven by my passion for European wines, I founded the Colorados Wine Club Inc. in Denver/Colorado. My passion for fine wine and good business is the backbone for my companies. Specialties: My consulting services are not a guise for selling overpriced wine. I do, however, stand by my opinion that fair prices are a basic requirement in the wine trade - fair for the producer, fair for the merchant, and fair for the buyer. I know many wines for five dollars or less that I would class as overpriced in terms of value for money. On the other hand, I also know wines costing 20 dollars or more that I would consider as extremely reasonable.
