Marta Tolós is the Group Head of AI Services and Platforms in AstraZeneca. Leading a multicultural team of AI Engineers and knowledge insight experts based in the UK, Sweden, Spain, Mexico, and India for driving the development and deployment of AI Enterprise Services and Platforms across AstraZeneca on a global scale. We focus on accelerating the delivery of data science throughout the enterprise by leveraging reusable AI services, including natural language processing, mathematical optimisation, computer vision, and Generative AI. Marta has a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, a Master’s Degree in Energy Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, a Master’s Degree in Computer Science with focus on Advanced Artificial Intelligence and a MBA. Before joining AstraZeneca in 2024, she worked as a trainee at IBM Spain and at the IBM Research Lab in Germany in the data mining department. She started her professional career working as a AI researcher at SONY Research Lab in Germany, focusing on speech recognition and machine learning for robotics. She worked as an AI consultant and a researcher for the Carnegie Mellon University and the Karlsruhe University. She worked as a Software Team leader for Robert BOSCH in the automotive sector in Germany and as a Technical Manager in the R&D department of the Catalan company GTD, focusing on Data Science in different R&D projects for power networks. She joined Telefonica R&D in 2012 as a Big Data Development Lead Manager and a Senior Data Scientist, leading Big Data Developers and Data Scientists in Spain and Brazil. In 2016 She joined Zurich Insurance as Head of Data Science and Data Engineering. Her department provided Data Science and Data Engineering/Big Data Services to Business Units and Group Functions inside Zurich’s organisation worldwide. Marta has contributed to several publications and patents and collaborated as adjunct professor in La Salle University and currently in EAE Business school and the Polytechnical University of Catalonia. Energy Engineering: Electricity networks, renewable energies: wind energy (eolic energy).
