About

I am a Melbourne-based Voice, Text and Dialect Coach. I hold a BA & BLitt from Monash University, a Master's degree in Creative Writing from The University of Sydney, and the MA (Master of Arts) in Voice Studies from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. I am currently an Associate Lecturer (Voice Specialist) at The University of Melbourne's Faculty of Fine Arts and Music (VCA Theatre). I have also worked as a freelance voice/dialect coach for Melbourne Theatre Company, Malthouse Theatre, Federation University's Arts Academy (Ballarat), Monash University, and more recently, Queensland Theatre Company.     Associate Lecturer (Drama) in Voice * * * * * * * * Primary Subject Taught: Clear Speech and Communication (THTR10019) Subject Description: This subject concentrates on developing clear speech, fluency, and overall communication skills for students where English is an additional language. Students will work with voice and speech coaches to explore the pronunciation of vowels and consonants of English, with application of the International Phonetic Alphabet, to improve articulation and build confidence in spoken English. Students complete weekly online learning modules at their own pace and interact with their tutor in weekly face-to-face tutorials. The online learning modules are comprised of video lectures, practical exercises and weekly discussion boards. A series of oral tasks will advance students’ use of intonation, stress and rhythm, and enable students to speak English confidently in conversation or formal communication. The subject enhances verbal communication skills in English in readiness for academic, social and professional environments.
