I build high-quality agentic and other AI-based systems as a hands-on AI engineer. I also work with founders, boards and senior leadership to align business and technical strategy, ensure product and engineering outcomes support commercial priorities, and establish clear, effective delivery. For organisations with problems requiring solution, I diagnose and resolve problems, turn around failing projects, and empower teams with lightweight, practical processes that enable consistent progress. I am open to project-based and longer term roles. Regardless of organisation size, I work comfortably at both strategic and operational levels. Typical work encompasses board discussions, technical and product leadership, hands-on decision-making in product and engineering teams, and coaching and mentoring. Example outcomes include: ✅ Saving $60M for a multinational client by aligning product and engineering strategy with business requirements. ✅ Enabling a £7.5M Series A award by providing product and engineering leadership for 0 to 1 development of a cloud native and mobile production system. ✅ Turning around a stalled product and engineering organisation that had wasted £1M sunk costs, creating a thriving organisation that delivered business value and restored senior leadership confidence. ✅ Saving a failing redevelopment, with £0.5M sunk costs, yielding a 75% increase in ARR after delivery. These are examples of a broader pattern: I bring clarity, structure and momentum in environments where organisations need to move quickly and deliver reliably. Some of the areas in which I operate include: ✅ Startups and scale-ups preparing for growth or funding. ✅ SMEs with delivery, team or product alignment challenges. ✅ Organisations of any size needing stabilisation, turnaround, or clear direction. I’m always open to discussing strategy, delivery, operations and/or specific product and engineering challenges.
Repeat Fractional CTO roles for startups and scale-ups — providing technical and product leadership, developing technical strategy aligned with business goals, and ensuring that teams build product that increases revenue -- including coaching a product and engineering organisation back to productivity producing business outcomes after £1M sunk cost with no significant outputs. Tailed off CTO-level work in May 2025 to move towards Individual Contributor (IC) roles, currently (end 2025 start 2026) working as an AI engineer developing Agents and MCP clients and servers, including in the cloud. Open to interim positions as an IC, particularly in Agentic AI and AI.
Founding AI Engineer at Complexiti. Development of agent and LLM orchestration pipelines to automate sanctions auditing (KYC) for commercial banks and other financial institutions. Typescript, MCP, Gemini and Anthropic APIs, LLM-as-judge, observability, Python plus Streamlit tooling.
I worked across Medify to support business and product growth while leading Medify's product and engineering activities, with responsibility for product design, monolith decomposition, re-architecting our tech stack for global expansion, and stable production system delivery.
Prevayl is a series A funded startup working in the IoT heath and training wearables sector. In Feb 2021 Prevayl secured a £7.5M Series A awarded by Stonebridge Partners, in significant part as a result of the software systems and IP that my team developed in 2020. I recruited a team of Software Engineers and Machine Learning specialists, and with the team delivered systems that contributed to Series A funding: - An MVP (Vue + Firebase) to demonstrate connected garments and associated hardware to investors. - A production consumer-facing app (React Native + AWS) that interfaced with Prevayl's garment and electronics offerings and provide a workout-based training insights. This system went live for Prevayl's first external users in December 2020, together with a cloud-native AWS backend. - A data-collection app (Xamarin + Firebase) to enable in IoT firmware development. - Various Machine Learning models, leading to nine machine learning patent applications.
I provided high-level consultancy and contract services to the IT industry. Roles included: Four consecutive contracts as a Board Advisor / Consultant CTO at Skills for Health, a charity and software supplier to the NHS. I brought two failing (£0.5M sunk costs) projects to fruition, with a 75% ARR increase and instituted regularisation and governance in 40+ staff IT Department. Product manager and agile coach for a content micro-payment startup, Agate Ltd, where I participated in all aspects of product development and UX/UI design; Contract Senior Ruby on Rails Developer. Advisor to multiple startups including in heath care and FinTech.
