Equipment within the plants varies from pressure vessels, pumps, gas burners, reactors, stirrers, conveyors, cyclones, filters, atm. vessels, air compressors, distillation columns, extraction columns, cryogenic plants, tank farms, cooling towers, belt filters and presses, granulators, vacuum pumps, packaging and bagging equipment, large mixers, various types of mills, etc. The materials to be processed/produced include acids, alkalis, methanol, isopropanol, HCL, cellulose, slurries and solids.

Working as a Lead Engineer Rotating Equipment in the mechanical engineering department at the company ThyssenKrupp Uhde GmbH, in Dortmund, Germany Responsibilities: Specifying and engineering execution of equipment for nitric acid and urea plants for the projects “Vale Fertilizantes” in Brazil and “Iowa Fertilizer Company” as well as “CFI Donaldsonville” (no lead function) in the USA. The equipment consists of multiple centrifugal and plunger pumps for acids, urea and several other fluids, as well as blowers, oil units, dosing units, tanks, centrifugal compressors/expander (nitric acid and CO2) and steam turbines.
Working as a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the mechanical engineering department at the company ThyssenKrupp PDNA Engineering (Pty) Ltd (South Africa) – Uhde Division, in Sunninghill, Sandton, South Africa Responsibilities: Specifying, execution, installation and commissioning of a pipe line compressor package driven by a gas turbine, for the Temane Central Processing Facility Expansion Project, Mozambique. From 8/2010 taking over the position of the Lead Mechanical Engineer function until the finalization of the project, which included site installation and pre commissioning of a refrigeration unit, a TEG unit, an air compressor, an incinerator plant and a sewage plant, as well as several vessels and heat exchangers. Specifying and execution of 3 reciprocating hydrogen compressor units, high pressure small volume flow, for the SASOL Wax Plant in Sasolburg, South Africa in the position of Lead Mechanical Engineer. Specifying and executing the cooling towers, aeration system, air compressors, de-sludging compressors, flare system and urea handling packages for the SASOL WRG project in Secunda, South Africa. Specifying and executing of 3 filter presses for the SASOL “Coal Tar Filtration” project in Sasolburg, South Africa. Finalization of installation, pre commissioning, commissioning and partial start up of a nitric acid compressor train and several process pumps, for the “Omnia” Project, in Secunda, South Africa.
Started as a Mechanical Engineer in the Mechanical engineering department at the company ALSTOM S&E in Woodmead, Sandton, South Africa. From 11/2008 till 07/2009 Manager Mechanical Engineering Responsibilities: Managing the mechanical engineering department with regards to ensure the quality of technical specifications and their timely delivery, engineering execution and manpower planning as well as personnel coordination. Implementation of processes and tools to allow a better progress reporting as well as preparation of standard documents for packages and systems to improved project control and execution. Projects were MEDUPI and KUSILE coal fired power plants each 4.800 MW consisting of 6 x 800MW Generators driven by Steam Turbines with Air Condensing Units.
