I have been interested in software development since computers became affordable for everyone. I started small by changing the color of the frog in a C64 game. Later, at the age of 15, I wrote my first "real" program to write business letters to print them correctly on matrix printers - I will never forget that sound... Since then, computer science has become a passion and I can't imagine doing anything else. I worked in the Public Transport industry for many years where I learned to develop software for the small, embedded computers and later for the big backend servers. I was responsible for the solution architecture and the implementation of the features from the requirements until their final acceptance. I started as a member of a development team and later became the leader of the Passenger Information Team. In 2018, I wrote my master thesis ‘Mobility and visual impairment’ at ZHAW. The thesis explores the requirements of a passenger information and guiding system for visually impaired people and provides a solution architecture that shows how the system can be integrated into existing solutions using standard interfaces wherever possible to reduce development time After my MAS study, I took the opportunity to join a startup company in the IoT business as a team leader. My first responsibility is to lead, technologically and organizational, the team to provide a scalable and reliable solution to operate their IoT business. This work is now done and I’m working on the Architecture / Solution Design of the new generation to move the system towards a standard IoT Platform to save development costs and reduce time to market of new features. This shall enable the company to grow faster than the required IT staff to develop, operate and maintan the system. My current interests are more on the ‘development’ side and not so much on team management in the role of a manager anymore. I like to lead a team, but I have always been and will always be a techie, not a manager.
