I work as a Software Engineer in the field of modern SAP development. My responsibilities range from enhancing existing systems to building new cloud applications on the SAP Business Technology Platform using CAP (Node.js), RAP (ABAP), and Fiori/UI5. My earlier work with SQL and .NET applications gave me a deep understanding of legacy structures, complex data models, and the practical challenges of transformation projects. Today, I combine this experience with modern SAP development to design processes that are clean, transparent, and built for long-term stability. I think analytically, work in a structured manner, and value clear interfaces, robust architecture, and pragmatic solutions. I am particularly interested in technical roles across the German-speaking region where modern SAP technologies play a central role.
I work in IT development at HELLA, where I support the ongoing technical transformation towards the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). I originally joined the team through support and enhancement of internal SQL and .NET applications — systems that are now largely considered legacy. This gave me a deep understanding of existing processes and data flows, which I now apply to modern BTP-based solutions. In addition to development, I also handle project-related responsibilities: coordinating developers and change requests, and assisting with the technical analysis of transformation initiatives. My current focus is on building cloud applications with SAP CAP, RAP, and Fiori/UI5. I work on creating OData services, CDS views, and Fiori frontends that integrate with ECC and HANA systems. A recent example is an HR calendar application that I am developing on SAP BTP, including a custom OData service and a UI5 frontend for editing and visualizing HR data.
Worked as a Java consultant on both internal and external client projects. Maintained and extended an in-house Spring Boot application, contributing to new feature development, bug fixes, and deployment automation. Participated in a government-led legacy modernization project based in Bonn, focused on upgrading and stabilizing a large Java JSP / JEE system. Refactored legacy components, improved performance of JSP views, and modernized backend interfaces while ensuring backward compatibility. Collaborated with government IT teams under strict compliance and documentation requirements, gaining experience in public sector development standards.
Migrated a legacy internal tool to a modern, secure web application architecture. Led the full-stack development using Go for the backend (chosen for performance and concurrency) and Node.js for the frontend, ensuring responsiveness and maintainability. Designed and implemented custom data input workflows and database interactions, replicating and enhancing the original logic. Handled complete DevOps setup, including Docker-based containerization, deployment within a VPN-secured environment, and configuration for secure internal access. Provided architectural guidance and worked closely with stakeholders to translate their operational requirements into scalable software features. Delivered a fully functional MVP and all requested features within scope and timeline.
Contributed to the development and maintenance of Babelforce’s SaaS call center platform, focusing on scalable backend systems. Initially maintained and extended core services written in Groovy and Grails, ensuring stability and adapting features to evolving client needs. Later transitioned into developing Java-based microservices using Quarkus, supporting the platform’s move toward a modular, cloud-native architecture. Worked extensively with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.) and managed CI/CD pipelines via Bitbucket Pipelines, including build configs and deployment logic. Conducted code reviews, participated in daily stand-ups, and collaborated in an Agile/Kanban environment across distributed teams. Utilized Docker and Kubernetes for containerized service deployment; tested microservices locally using a lightweight Kubernetes emulator. Frequently debugged production issues, improved monitoring setups, and proposed performance optimizations.
