In 1979, I earned my master certification in injection molding – and I never left this industry. From Cape Town to Switzerland, from Vorarlberg to ALPLA Ideas, I learned one thing: technology changes, but character endures. At ALPLA, I specialized in Siemens NX 30 years ago and the 3D world before taking the leap into self-employment. I built my own company – “freiform ff “– fully integrating Siemens solutions without external help. I trained employees and apprentices up to CAM level and turned trust into performance: within just three weeks, we developed and produced hardened injection molds for over 100,000 plastic - parts – from design to molding. Made in Vorarlberg. For 25 years, I led 13 employees, trained four apprentices, and built everything with my own money – no banks, no shortcuts. Because you only need one thing: a customer who believes in you. Later, I chose to close my company with pride rather than sell it below value, passing on my knowledge and integrity. Returning to ALPLA gave me new energy – working with young talents, sharing what experience should do: protect, not control. When systems suppress the will and joy to work, it’s time to step out and speak up. When words start to matter more than willpower, and learning turns into competition, I still want to see will and joy in people’s eyes when I’m seventy. And this is why sport is more than movement – it’s a school of attitude, discipline, and perseverance. Joy in the result is the reward. “Plastic and metal” are not one-way materials. They can be shaped – just like people, when willpower meets trust. We train knowledge every day – but how often do we train willpower? Hopefully until the very end. Because education without movement remains theory. Through all these years, I’ve learned to look into people’s eyes and recognize their talent.
