National Security - Microsoft

Washington, District of Columbia, United States

About

For 25 years, I have been at the center of national security, law and government affairs—helping senior leaders make informed decisions in moments that matter. At Microsoft, I direct U.S. Government Affairs’ national security portfolio, working with Congress, the Pentagon and the Intelligence Community to shape policy around artificial intelligence, cloud modernization, cybersecurity, and the technologies that underpin U.S. strategic advantage. Before joining Microsoft, I spent more than two decades in federal service across the CIA, NSA, Air Force, Navy and Congress. Those roles gave me a comprehensive view of how national security is made: through leadership, oversight, legislation, operational insight, and trusted relationships. As a senior executive and attorney, I advised cabinet level officials, IC leadership, senior Members of Congress and guided high impact oversight, supported complex intelligence and defense operations, and helped steward major mission and technology programs with strategic implications. At Microsoft I’m focused on ensuring the U.S. government can adopt advanced technologies—especially AI—responsibly, securely, and at mission scale. I work across government and industry to strengthen national resilience, safeguard critical systems, and ensure that policy frameworks keep pace with innovation. My goal is to bridge public sector mission requirements with private sector capabilities, so the nation maintains its strategic and technological edge. I thrive where mission urgency meets strategic judgment: translating complex technical and legal issues into actionable policy, connecting government challenges to industry solutions, and helping shape the policies that will define the next era of national security and advance the security and competitiveness of the United States.
