About

A lifelong engineer who began with the family business in 1978, including print industry engineering apprenticeship (and later, time out at university). Until recently, an employee of Liberty Steel Group, Speciality Steels division 2019-2025, followed by a brief tenure with Severfield PLC, and a slightly less-brief period at AMRC, now seeking a return to industry, steel, manufacturing or FMCG. My experience comprises engineering and IT skills gained in printing, automotive, manufacturing, process, FMCG, heavy engineering and utilities industries. With transferable and extremely wide competencies in engineering, IT and research (in-house and through a network of highly competent associates within industry and academia), I have provided clients with first-class, relevant, innovative and cost-effective solutions when working freelance. Not only, but also.... Mardin Properties: letting of high-quality residential property portfolio, once numbering 4, now down to one in Knaresborough, as of August 2023 (having sold the two Leeds houses and one of the Knaresborough portfolio); these were (one still is) let exclusively through Martin & Co. Specialities: Analysis; utilities (power) - document/drawings auditing, analysis, filing and management; condition assessment modelling; condition based maintenance (CBM); materials modelling (inc. macro authorship) Cerius2; design and simulations (3D using the now long-defunct SDRC I-DEAS); IT (including specification, layout, repairs, maintenance, disaster avoidance and data recovery); engineering and subcontract; process; automation; prototyping; technical and commercial searches, and some PLC ladder logic. Recently completed C&G 2391-52 and the Pilz C&G Machine Safety and PUWER course. Held BESC and National Grid NGP to August 2016. BESC no. 67889. I now limit my own business activities to very few retained clients and property rentals interests (now one, having sold three of the portfolio of four). Having returned to industry from 2016 within FMCG and three great years at Wm. Morrison at Flaxby, and my (nearly) six years with Liberty Steel Group from June 2019 to March 2025 in the Greater Sheffield area. A couple of short-term positions since.
