Mark Napier

Independent film Producer, Line Producer

Honolulu Metropolitan Area

About

I've been in the entertainment industry since 2002. Filmmaking is my 3rd third career., I have progressively responsible experience as Coordinator, Production Manager, Line Producer, Producer. I’m now bi-coastal, working from home in Honolulu, but willing and able to “work as a local” in Los Angeles or another mainland city. I’m particularly interested in exploring opportunities in Hawaii and other Polynesia/Oceania locations. As a Producer, I skipped the step of begging for bagels on weekend shorts; I jumped right to renting the CalTrans Headquarters, shooting on USS Lane Victory and turning the downtown 2nd Street Tunnel into a giant, drive-though, movie screen. Very much a by-any-means-necessary filmmaker. I also have extensive below-the-line experience, especially in grip and lighting. Projects range from studio movies such as “The Conjuring 2” to narrative and documentary projects where I was the entire AC/Grip/Lighting/Set Dec crew. I am actively seeking a full-time staff production management/creative producing position with an on-coming company that discovers, develops, produces, and sells content, preferable with an eye on the global marketplace. In previous careers, I worked in corporate IT as a systems analyst, trainer, technical writer, and project manager on nationwide technology refresh projects. Prior to that, I worked in consumer marketing research where I was gained experience in advertising, marketing, print & TV copy testing. I’ve been an occasional guest-lecturer at New York Film Academy and am involved with the Occidental College’s Media Arts & Culture (MAC) department.
