HackEDU was acquired by a growth equity company. HackEDU is a cybersecurity company in the secure coding space. TL;DR - grew bootstrapped company rapidly (low-$2M to mid-$8M), resulting in an acquisition. HackEDU (now called Security Journey after they acquired the company with the name) is a B2B Cybersecurity SaaS company that was bootstrapped when I joined them. I was the first marketing hire and had sole responsibility for strategy and execution of our growth marketing efforts. We grew rapidly under my marketing leadership, resulting in an acquisition by a growth equity firm. Results: • 4x sales Y-o-Y • Over $20M in pipe generated from Q1 through Q3 with less than $800k in marketing spend • Won/lost ratio - 72%/28% • Created positioning and messaging that helped us win deals against larger, more established, and much better funded competitors • Brought in opportunities and deals from numerous marquee and Fortune 100 companies • Grew organic traffic to our site by 5.5x year-over-year • Gained first position and first page in Google’s search engine results page (SERPs) for numerous keywords • Deals balanced across offline, organic, direct traffic, paid search, organic search and referrals • Mentored and coached less experienced members of the company cybersecurity, B2B, SaaS, enterprise, demand gen, pipeline growth, infosec, appsec, application security, data driven, product marketer
