Professor Stevenson is an epidemiologist and Professor of Urban Transport and Public Health at the University of Melbourne and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (FAHMS). His appointment is across the Melbourne Schools of Design, Engineering and Population and Global Health. He is an advisor for injury to the Director General of the World Health Organisation. Prof Stevenson is the Director of the cross disciplinary Transport, Health and Urban Systems Research Lab in the Melbourne School of Design at the University of Melbourne and founder and CEO of Urban Analytica Pty Ltd. Prof Stevenson has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles, books, book chapters and technical reports and procured more than $63 million in competitive research funding. He has worked on numerous national and international projects that have directly influenced transport policy and worked with both Federal and State Governments in Australia and internationally. He has led many research groups and is internationally recognized in the field of transport safety and public health. Prof Stevenson is contributing to: i) the scientific evidence associated with the interface between urban design, transport and population health ii) initiatives and delivery of innovative and sustainable transport safety solutions iii) translating the science to relevant urban, transport and health policies and practice and iv) research training and leadership in the field.

Prof Stevenson is the Director of the Transport, Health and Urban Systems Research Lab (see https://msd.unimelb.edu.au/thus) comprising a cross-disciplinary research team exploring how the effects of urban form and transportation influence the health of residents in cities.
