In Summer 2021 Gillanders Motors completed the acquisition of Shirlaws Motorcycles Ltd. Gillanders continued success following the addition of the Kia franchise has allowed reinvestment in our Peterhead facility our expansion into Aberdeen. With strong manufacturer relationships and market leading customer feedback, Aberdeen was the natural next step. Our new site in Altens, Keran House, will open in late 2021.

Connect St Helena are the recently divested utilities company serving the islands electricity, water and sewage needs. As the first fully divested department Connect will be heavily scrutinised to ensure delivery of best practice and value for money. Employing over 60 staff and with a turnover in excess of £4 Million Connect are the sole utilities provider for Saint Helena. Since divestment Connect have doubled the power generation realised from renewable energy sources. Key Responsibilities:- Strategic management of the initial divestment from government, company formation, articles of inception and financial planning of Connect, the first divested business on Saint Helena, with asset holdings of £19m Led recruitment of the CEO, Operations Director, Board Members and Auditors for a new and remote business. Responsible for developing and implementing the strategic plan to ensure measurable progress and the long-term direction of the business. Responsible for leading the restructuring of contractual and permanent employment policies to ensure equality in all aspects of recruitment and management whilst improving staff retention and satisfaction. Engagement with key stakeholders including elected members of government, regulatory body, shareholders and professional bodies. Create an environment and behaviours that drives contractual compliance, risk mitigation and a focus on operational delivery at all times. Build and maintain key relationships with Board Colleagues and Senior Management, to ensure service delivery and development are aligned to the business objectives Secured additional £1.5m DFID funding for renewable energy improvement programme resulting in 30% renewable generation at peak demand. Risk mitigation through control of the strategic risk register, ensuring that clearly defined mitigation plans, robust processes, KPI review mechanisms and the enforceability of agreements are in place which minimise commercial and business exposure.
Key Responsibilities:- Responsible for the operational management of all health and safety matters including the drafting, implementation, management and review of policies and procedures in accordance with the strategic business plan. Presentation of in house training in; Risk management, risk assessment, safe working practices, health and safety for supervisors and first aid. Delivery of robust risk management programmes, in house training and safety incentives. Preparation and delivery of quarterly strategic report to the Board of Directors. Key stakeholder management that requires a high level of interface with a diverse range of stakeholders and internal customers on a daily basis. Driving the implementation of emergency procedures across the business in cooperation with the Fire and Rescue Service. Integrate local suppliers and contractors existing practices with company polices to ensure safe working practices. Ensuring compliance with local health and safety legislation and with all legal, professional and regulatory requirements.
Development, implementation and management of the first Offender Management Service on Saint Helena in accordance with local legislation and international best practice. Delivery of a suite of sentencing alternatives including probation, community service, combined service orders, parole and “life licence” management. MAPPA coordinator responsible for multi agency cooperation in addressing high-level offenders and suspects in the community. Engagement with key stakeholders including the judiciary, legal chambers, elected members, social services and medical professionals. Creation of pre sentence reporting to the Magistrates Court and Supreme Court. Trained Prison Officer due to access to secure areas of HMP Saint Helena.
