Mark Smith is a highly regarded AMSA Accredited Marine Surveyor (AMSA 3242-6148 4), Chartered Marine Engineer and Electrical Contractor, with over 40 years’ experience. Mark is a member of the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors, and Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST). He holds a Class 1 Engineer Motor and Steam Certificate, an Electrical Contractors Licence (QLD), and is a eCMID Inspector (AVI00674). Mark is the brains behind ESHORE - a revolutionary new shore connection device for all boats and vessels connected to shore power, compliant with Australian Standards. ESHORE has been nominated in the Australian Business Awards 2022 for Product Innovation [PIA] and a finalist in the Queensland Government Office of Industrial Relations 2022 Safe Work and Return to Work Awards in the category of Best solution to an identified electrical issue. During his career Mark’s training, experience and knowledge has been honed in his roles as Chief Engineer, Technical Manager and Engineering Surveyor, in the fields of mechanical, electrical and structural, covering new build and repairs of vessels. He is highly sought after for his understanding and ability to interpret legislation and regulation. He also has vast experience in preparing submissions to Regulatory Bodies in order to gain approval for standard and innovative vessel modifications. - Maintain Fleet Technical Integrity for the Companies Fleet of 17 ships, - Facilitate Project Specific Engineering Solutions to meet client requirements, - Set Engineering Policy for Companies Managed Fleet, - Produce Maintenance Budgets for the Companies Fleet of ship, and; - Project Management of: • Project Specific Engineering • Ship Conversions • Scheduled Shutdown Maintenance • Logistics of maintenance and construction items. Achievements: As a founding partner of Go Marine Group, I was instrumental in the development and implementation of: - Safety Management System – Company meeting ISM, ISO & Client audits, - Maintenance policies and management – Company meeting ISM, ISO & Client audits, - CMMS – Ensuring that maintenance is planned, scheduled & monitored, - Rapid response in shore support ship breakdowns – Limiting off-charter exposure, - Successful implementation of a safety case, and; - Identification of major OEM failure resulting in reimbursement of funds and ongoing support. Achievements: - Successfully supervised project, from the conversion and construction of an oil tanker to a FPSO and done within the scope of delivery window to produce first oil meeting market expectation, and; - Successfully managed oil process plant installation faults and implantation planned maintenance program to maintain oil production.
