I am a module process engineer in the Portland technology development group (PTD). I am a wet etch expert working on development of P1274 and future technologies.

  • UC San Diego (5 yrs 8 mos)
    • Graduate Student Researcher
      Sep 2011 - Apr 2017 · 5 yrs 8 mos

I worked for Professor Clifford Kubiak in the Chemistry Department at UC San Diego. I investigated highly activated nickel complexes for carbon dioxide activation and reduction, with the goal of furthering our understanding of processes which could lead to the production of liquid fuels or industrial chemicals. I pursued new synthetic targets and structural motifs in nickel N-heterocyclic carbene chemistry. From 2014 - 2016, I also served as the student coordinator for the "Novel Catalytic Mechanisms for the Chemical Reduction of Carbon Dioxide to Energy-Dense Liquids" grant under the auspices of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI), led by Professor Kubiak. I coordinated and ran bi-weekly videoconferences between six research groups at five universities, and participated in organizing and planning reviews, presentations, and communcations with the AFOSR. I also took on many responsibilities in the planning and execution of our annual review conferences, with responsibilities including day-of coordination, organization of poster sessions, creation of programs, AV support, and coordination of a video conference with the national research council (NRC).

    • Graduate Teaching Assistant
      Sep 2011 - Jun 2013 · 1 yr 10 mos

I was a teaching assistant for four quarters of undergraduate chemistry classes at UC San Diego. I taught Chem 7L, a general chemistry lab course, in the fall quarter of 2011 and the winter quarter of 2012. My responsibilities included leading laboratory sessions twice a week for a group of 20-22 students, writing and grading short quizzes, and grading lab reports. I taught Chem 6B in the spring quarter of 2012 and Chem 6C in the spring quarter of 2013. These are parts 2 and 3 of a 3-class general chemistry sequence. I led discussion sections for three groups of roughly 40 students each, wrote and graded quizzes, and graded exams.

  • Undergraduate Researcher at Arizona State University
    Dec 2008 - Jun 2011 · 2 yrs 7 mos

I worked for Professor Ian Gould as part of the HOG (hydrothermal organic chemistry) project in the GEOPIG (Group Exploring Organic Processes in Geochemistry), investigating the reactivity and decomposition of organic molecules under hydrothermal conditions. I focused on hydration and redox changes of alkene functional groups in these systems. My work was reported in an honors thesis prior to graduation from Arizona State University.

  • Temporary Laboratory Technician at AMRI (Albany Molecular Research Inc.)
    Jun 2008 - Aug 2008 · 3 mos

I worked in the chemical development department doing small to medium-scale synthesis of specialty compounds for the pharmaceutical industry. Specifically, my work entailed the preparation of side products from the synthesis of pharmaceuticals for use as standards during the manufacturing process.
