As a Data Scientist intern, I was responsible for helping build a model that used machine learning to predict final healthcare costs for musculoskeletal patients, and could be used to protect HIPAA patient information. I was also responsible for the creation of training documents that were used to instruct other employees how to use advanced programs in R and Microsoft Excel
As a Consular Affairs intern, my primary duty was to assist the Foreign Service Officers in collecting biometric data from visa applicants, as part of the visa application process. I also was responsible for creating replacement identity documents for American citizens who had their documents lost or stolen while overseas. Both roles placed me in contact with large quantities of highly sensitive personal information, which required a high level of professional responsibility to ensure that information was not misused. As part of this assignment, I was eligible for an interim "secret" government security clearance.
