I am currently attending the University of Maine nursing program and have experience in phlebotomy, patient care, and customer service. Recently completed a CNA course.
• Transcribes laboratory orders and registers appointments in EPIC. • Assesses collected specimens for quality and acceptability, verifies orders in EPIC, and receives specimens into Sunquest, including blood, urine, stool, and other body fluids. • Prepares specimens for testing as needed, including centrifuging, aliquoting, and adding appropriate media and additives. • Prepares specimens for shipment to reference laboratories (St. Joseph Hospital, Dahl-Chase Laboratory, Maine Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory, and Mayo Hospital). • Operates Sunquest, Clinical Collect, MayoAccess, and EPIC per protocol.
•Perform venipuncture via vacuum tube, straight needle, and butterfly needle methods and capillary puncture via finger sticks. •Provide urine and stool kits and perform MRSA swab testing. •Communicate blood tests being drawn and proper protocol for urine and stool collection and provide optimal care and comfort to patients and family •Proper labeling and storage of MRSA swabs, urine and stool samples, blood cultures, and other blood tests. •Check test orders in EPIC and receive blood, urine, stool, MRSA swab, and COVID swab specimen in Sunquest. •Collaborate and communicate with nursing staff, physicians, and other hospital personnel for safe and efficient lab draws and patient contact.
•Provide patient-centered care to patients and their families and address comfort and care needs of patients, including assessment of level of care and assistance needed. This care includes tending to the patient’s physical, social, psychological, spiritual, and relationship needs. •Collaborate and communicate with members of the nursing team, unit, and healthcare team. •Provide and document morning care, including bed and chlorohexidine baths, oral care, skin assessment, patient turning and body alignment, and obtaining vital signs. •Measure intake and output, including percentage of meals eaten (Excluding IV intake). •Bedpan and commode assistance, incontinence care, and foley care. •Pre-procedure shave preparation. •Application and removal of anti-embolitic stockings, pulse oximetry probes, EKG electrodes. •Obtaining vital signs, EKG’s and bladder scans and performing finger stick blood glucose monitoring and deep breathing and coughing exercises; documenting results of all tests. •Transfer patients between beds, chairs, and commode, ambulate patients, and turn and adjust patients; ensure proper body alignment. •Code blue and emergency responses, including CPR administration and assisting nursing and physician staff with emergency response measures.
•Process textbook and merchandise orders utilizing EPOS and UPS WorldShip Systems. •Receive textbooks and merchandise via Purchase Orders and Sequoia System. •Complete textbook related tasks, including inventory tracking, pricing inquiries, and printing barcode and shelf tags via the bookstores Textbook Partner system. •Actively communicate issues, concerns, and updates between receiving, textbook, art, technology and accounting departments, as well as front end. •Collaborate with other bookstore employees to complete various tasks including organizing, stocking, and customer assistance. •Transport products to Bear Necessities Fan-shop (partner store) and deliver special orders to various campus departments.
