I have over 28 years of military service, including 15 years of senior leadership and management experience with significant responsibility and accountability. I was put in charge of safely navigating a 9500-ton warship in the Persian Gulf at night as a 24-year old, commanded a guided missile frigate 16 years later, operated nuclear power plants and served as Chief Engineer of the Navy’s largest, oldest and most complex nuclear plant, got the best education in leadership not taught anywhere else, and served with the best and brightest folks in the world. Following my Navy career, I’ve assessed and coached in manufacturing, renewables, upstream, downstream, and midstream oil and gas operations in North America, Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia with the following emphasis: operational excellence, investigative analysis, rig move efficiency, HSE Safety Cases and Lean Program initiatives. I also directed a complex chemical plant responsible for sterilizing medical equipment used throughout the medical and pharmaceutical industries and led Operational Excellence/Lean Manufacturing initiatives at a pharmaceutical company.
