About

After living and breathing creative advertising solutions at the very top level for the last 20 years, I now think of myself as a Creative Businessman. That’s what being an award-winning CD in the UK, Australia, Asia and Europe has made me. Working on some of the world’s biggest brands, for some of the industry’s biggest advertising agencies such as DDB London, McCann, BATEY, FCB, MOJO, Y&R, JWT (Sydney and UK/Europe), LINTAS and GREY - I’ve also successfully run my own creative agencies in Sydney. Most noted of these was The Takeaway - Australia’s first full-service agency with an openly published menu of disciplines and costs - and its philosophy of ‘Quick, Quality Creative’ thinking. I believe creativity to be today’s most potent fiscal tool and have been a regular member and tutor training young talent to be also as commercially savvy as they are creative. For the last five years or so, I’ve been the Head Chef and Chief Bottle Washer of my own global creative consultancy called BrandTail and founder of HercuLees – a unique ideas and implementation group, that treats impossibility as its specialty. Recently I spent a year-long creative sabbatical back as CD/Head of Copy of Momentum Worldwide, working predominantly on the global NESTLE'/NESCAFE' out of Geneva, and as a consultant Global CD for BBDO Sydney, working on Pepsi and their worldwide Whiskas account. Working anywhere the work takes me - in particular the UK, Europe, Australia and Asia - I’m the thinker you can turn to, to solve the one brand or business issue that’s keeping you awake at night. Over the years, I’ve won numerous communication and effectiveness awards - One Shows, Cannes, Clios, Effies, London Internationals, etc - though I’ve yet to write The Best Ad in the World. Which is the one thing that still gets me up in the morning.
