Chartered Process Engineer (CEng MIChemE) with over 20 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, possessing specialist understanding of late-life North Sea production operations and a focus on providing value-driven engineering solutions to ensure safe, sustainable and profitable asset operation. Strong experience in providing frontline process engineering operational and production optimisation support to offshore platforms, complemented by assignments in Projects and Functional Support roles. Proven technical, leadership and cross-functional collaboration capabilities to deliver business-focused results in highly regulated contexts. Skilled in process simulation tools (UniSim Design, PIPESIM) and PI ProcessBook, PI Vision and TrendMiner process data visualisation software. Eight years of onshore Emergency Response (Site Contact) experience supporting multiple offshore platforms.
Leadership of the Process Engineering Operations team supporting Chrysaor's Armada, Everest and Lomond/EPM offshore platforms. Responsible for provision of frontline process engineering support and plant monitoring / optimisation, and identification and mitigation of short- and long-term process safety, reliability and environmental vulnerabilities. Designated process engineering operations interface for late-life compression projects, environmental enhancement projects, and subsea tie-back and infill well drilling projects. Chrysaor Process Engineering Technical Authority designated stand-in.
Process Engineering Technical Authority Level 3 and process engineering operations support / reliability focal point for the Lomond and North Everest platforms. Identification and delivery of small-scale process engineering workscopes providing operational and reliability enhancements.
Expansion of responsibilities to provide process engineering technical support and longer term process engineering studies to all three of BG Group's operated UK North Sea platforms (Armada, Lomond and North Everest), under the UK Operate late-life asset organisation. • Nominated as lead technical and operations representative on Erskine-through-Lomond and Lomond-through-EPM development projects. • Generated detailed Lomond Process Turndown Study in under 2 months in-house; determined modifications required to allow Lomond production to end of economic life and Erskine production beyond Lomond cessation. • Designed and implemented new procedure enabling Erskine operation on fuel gas direct from Lomond wells, thereby allowing Erskine export during 5 week Lomond compression outage and saving £1 million diesel costs. • Effectively managed conflicting platform priorities through clear dialogue with Operations Managers and understanding of value precedence.
Process Engineer in newly created Facilities Engineering team, managing Wood Group process engineering scopes for three UK North Sea platforms. Member of crisis recovery teams for Lomond condensate export pipeline blockage and CATS Riser Borsig valve leak. • Managed and co-ordinated the work of three Wood Group Engineers as part of the multi-discipline Facilities Engineering team; set a clear team direction in a challenging and changing environment. • Designed, assessed and implemented unblock responses to condensate export pipeline blockage under significant time pressure. BG Group Edge Award Finalist for successful unblock of pipeline. • Led pipeline flow assurance meetings with Chevron and BG Group technical representatives following pipeline blockage clearance; achieved agreement for criteria to justify Erskine fluid reintroduction into pipeline with minimal risk of further blockage. • Designed and implemented sustainable model for two process engineers to support three operating platforms.
Lead Process Engineer in onshore Integrated Collaborative Environment (ICE) team, providing front line operational and process engineering troubleshooting support to the offshore Lomond platform and Erskine Production Module (EPM) in the UK North Sea. • Generated detailed engineering solution to the Produced Water Caisson integrity issue by re-routing produced water to Open Drains Caisson; led design through HAZOP and assurance process. • Lead BG Group representative for technical interface with Chevron on the operation and optimisation of the Erskine Production Module. • Lead technical and operations representative on Erskine Through Lomond Project and Lomond Through EPM Project. • Led investigations into production trips through 5-Whys process and implemented procedural changes and small-scale engineering modifications to prevent recurrence. • Led process engineering studies in support of platform process safety, environmental and production enhancements. • Accountable for the maintenance of asset process simulation model. • Custodian of asset P&IDs and Cause & Effects documentation. • Responsible for review and update of plant Process Operating Procedures.
Undergraduate summer internship; constructed dynamic model of two-phase pilot-plant batch reactor.
