I am used to working under pressure whilst still maintaining a confident and assured professional nature, having 30 years experience of aircraft maintenance covering a wide spectrum of the airframe trade.     Employed by BAE Systems as an aircraft maintenance specialist technician trainer. My primary task is to train personnel assigned to me using the RSAF on the job training programme. Whilst training I also carry out scheduled periodic servicing, repair and bay service mechanical components, in depth aircraft maintenance, assist the squadrons with fault diagnosis and repair for heavy maintenance programs and crash recovery of the tornado aircraft. I instruct on all aspects of the above whilst passing on high levels of safety and quality assurance.

  • Airframe Technician at Qineteq, RAF Coningsby, RAF Leuchars
    2001 - 2003 · 2 yrs

    Between two periods of employment in Saudi Arabia I contracted as an airframe technician working on all variants of tornado aircraft. The majority of work was carried out at Boscombe Down employed by Qinetiq. I gained further experience in all aspects of first and second line maintenance within my trade and also the propulsion trade by assisting them when necessary. I was also involved in the testing, evaluation, modification and flight trials programmes carried out for external customers. Another large part of this period was taken up at RAF Coningsby and RAF Leuchars carrying out scheduled periodic servicing at these bases.

    Employed within a mixed civilian and service environment, working in the component maintenance facility within 9 Squadron. Carrying out the complex and demanding task of in-depth fault diagnosis, repair and testing of high lift wing sweep control units for Tornado aircraft and overhaul of Jaguar undercarriage system hydraulic actuators.

    On a busy flight line of Hercules transport aircraft, duties consisted of first and second line maintenance, system fault diagnosis, operation of aircraft systems, functional checks, launch and recovery, composite servicing, replenishment of fuel, oil and oxygen systems, aircraft de-icing and ground handling. At short notice I was often called away to assist in the recovery of the Hercules from United Kington and overseas locations.
