About

I have more than FOUR DECADES of experience working in the media industry. I started (no internet, no mobile phones, AI, driverless cars, electric cars, etc) as a junior reporter and then reporter on local newspapers (Peterborough Evening Telegraph and the Derby-based, Trader Group of Newspapers where I was based in the Leicester newsroom) before I continued news and sports reporting on BBC local and commercial radio, including BBC Radio Leicester (staff- News Reporter) BBC Radio Solent (staff- Sports Editor) Centre Radio (News Reporter) Leicester Sound, Ocean Sound (Sports Editor at both) Then I progressed onto working as a Sports Reporter for the commercial breakfast TV show, TV-am, before its demise. After freelancing at LBC Radio and IRN (I covered top-flight football matches for ITN's national football coverage) it was then onto regional television (TVS, CENTRAL, MERIDIAN) where I worked as a News Reporter (including court reporting) covering a wide range of stories as well as compiling features and regularly reading news and sports bulletins. I joined SKY NEWS in 1996 and was there for 14 years, working in a wide variety of roles including Reporter/Packager for SKY SPORTS NEWS, Assistant News Editor on SKY NEWS and Assistant News Editor on the SKY SPORTS NEWSDESK. Whilst at SKY, I also freelanced at Channel 5 (News Reporter) Eurosport, Paris (Football Commentator and Reporter) Setanta Sports News, Video Journalist and for 12 years, I was a regular match reporter for BBC Final Score. I have visited and reported from ALL 92 football league clubs in England and Wales, have won regional newspaper, radio and television awards and thrive on new challenges, covering stories and working to tight deadlines. In the last few years, I have lived in Madrid and Malaga in Spain, working as a freelance VJ for TVE and other European TV channels and then since 2015, I have been covering a wide range of news and sports stories throughout Asia (mainly in China) for various TV stations and news and sports agencies. I am a good, all-rounder with great people and communication skills. I have witnessed an incredible transformation in the media industry over the past 40 years or so. But I have embraced all the changes and technology and I still love the news and sports industry and have the same great enthusiasm for it, which I first had, all those years ago, when I first started out as a junior reporter- typing up stories on a heavy metal Imperial typewriter and phoning in copy from a call box- if I could find one that worked! Happy days and long may they continue!!
