The Maritime Ships future strategy included the energy team who had a mission which was to transform the Naval base into a self efficient smart grid operating on its own 33 KV network providing energy to the Naval fleet and potentially the local area of Portsmouth City. The Strategy started with reducing the energy footprint of the Naval Base. Some of the Projects I implemented were; a wireless smart metering Project for measuring Naval ships energy use, Installing one of the first LED street lighting projects in the UK in conjunction with E.ON. The roll out of over a 1000 smart meters for Heat, Gas and Electricity across the Naval base buildings in conjunction with Siemens. Analysis and measurement of Gas Turbine Engine fuel consumption in order to optimise the fuel efficiency working with the Royal Navy. Implementing a series of energy measures within the naval base such as CHP engines, heat pumps, Variable Speed Drives, BMS systems, Energy efficient lighting. Solar PV. Part of the team that set up an off-grid technology demonstrator in Cyprus for the army including novel technologies funded through the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory(DSTL) and the Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE).
Head Office - Future business development and Strategy . Joined a start up within BAE Systems . As the energy technology lead I developed relationships with SMEs and Universities in order to develop potential smart grid technologies, working with Imperial College , Cranfield, Bristol and UCLAN to try to exploit emerging technologies through applied research in the following areas, Hydrogen economy including fuel cell development, Decentralised Network algorithms for future smart networks and critical infrastructure. One of the successful outcomes was the deployed energy management system that started out as a Centre for Defence enterprise funded project that coupled diesel generators with Formula 1 technology through energy storage in order to manage peak loads.
Computer Aided Design Manager - CATIA V5 transformation and Stereolithography development in support of the GR9 Harrier Aircraft.
A Digital Mock up Engineer building 3D fly through models for systems integration on the A400M and A380 Aircraft.
