With more than three decades of global leadership experience, I serve as Chairman and CEO of Black & Veatch. I previously served as President of the Energy & Process Industries business sector, which provides critical infrastructure services and solutions to power, oil and gas, mining, and other process industry clients. I joined our 100 percent employee-owned company in 2018 as President of the global power business, guiding it through a strategic repositioning towards growth in renewable electricity generation, grid modernization, and resiliency. I also joined the Black & Veatch Board of Directors in 2021. Before Black & Veatch, I served in multiple executive roles and led large global businesses at Siemens, and previously Westinghouse, including as CEO of Siemens Oil & Gas and Marine, an engineered solutions and integration business unit operating globally in over 21 countries. I also founded a private consulting firm focused on energy and heavy industry. At the end of the day, I pride myself in balancing my role as an involved father, active leader in the community, and an effective global business leader.

Our portfolio covers the entire Electric Power Value Chain from Conventional, Renewable, and Distributed Power Generation, to Power Delivery (T&D), microgrids and behind the meter services. Global Energy Industry Adviser, offering expertise and guidance to companies in the Energy sector seeking profitable growth by optimizing strategy, structure, and productivity. Serving as board member of North Orlando Rowing, a non-profit middle/high-school Crew training and national competition club.
Managed a +$1.5B Global business unit providing engineered and modularized electrical, automation, and water treatment solutions to Oil & Gas and marine industry clients (EPCs, Shipbuilders, and O&G Majors). Exercised responsibility over five global P&L business segments operating in 21 countries with over 3500 employees, and covering the full value chain from Business Development and Sales to full Project Execution. Restructured the business to weather market downturn. Rolled out global business optimization plans to capture measurable improvement in sales and cost efficiency, substantially improving profit margins. Reorganized business unit into global and accountable P&L segments headquartered in Norway, Germany, Singapore, and USA. Segments were focused on upstream, mid-stream, and downstream O&G sectors (Drilling, Production, Pipelines, E-modules, Water Solutions), streamlining technology focus and responsiveness to market segments. Collaborated with C-suite executive clients to co-develop integrated solutions for critical Oil, Gas, and Marine projects. Guided market and technology strategy, and made ultimate R&D priority and funding decisions. Approved bidding activity, pricing, and profit margins. Tracked progress of key projects against established milestones and financial deliverables. Served as corporate executive sponsor for multiple key accounts, university liaison, and diversity/resource groups.
Led the Americas Power Generation Solutions business, with P&L responsibility for the sale and execution of power plant solutions projects throughout North America and Latin America. Restructured and substantially grew the business. Led a business segment covering the full value chain for the Sales, Engineering, Procurement, and Execution of power plant projects spanning from Turbine Island Systems to full Plant Turnkey (EPC). Primary market segment was IPPs and Private Power Clients (Distributed Generation). Developed and executed select projects in consortium with other EPCs (Bechtel, etc.). Restructured the organization and key leadership positions, and led the deployment of major productivity initiatives that achieved significant reductions in cost. Expanded business volume by +500% (~$200m to ~$1B) with a 30% gain in profit margins over four years, leveraging a highly competitive sales strategy.
Director, Long Term Service Programs and Gas Turbine Modernization Marketing, Orlando, FL, USA (2006 - 2008) Recognized for securing YOY growth in revenue from the marketing and sale of Long Term Service Programs and Gas Turbine Modernization products throughout North America and Latin America. Introduced a series of strategic changes improving the effectiveness of the organization and key leadership roles. Rolled-out a strategy to leverage the modernization of gas turbines as a means of securing long-term service agreements, capturing 300% volume growth within a two-year period. Director, Global Major Service Projects, Orlando, FL, USA / Muelheim, Germany / Berlin, Germany (2005 - 2006) Consolidated and directed a global organization managing modernization projects of nuclear and fossil power plants. Managed 122 global projects, with leadership of a global team distributed throughout the US and Germany. Launched a new global project management organization; consolidated multiple specialty teams into a single organization with more effective project management capabilities. Coordinated and led professional training and certification efforts for all project managers.
