Through working as a paid researcher for a longitudinal medical study on children with congenital heart defects and low life expectancy (studying their medical and psychological development), I am collaborating with the head of the neurology and cardiology department at the Barmherzige Brueder Hospital.
At the Cellular and Molecular Biology of the Inner Ear Laboratory at UCLA in the Head and Neck Surgery Department, I worked as a research assistant on a mini-review on the connections between hearing and psychology: Tinnitus, anxiety, and COVID-19.
At this conference, I presented a poster on a follow up study of my master's thesis with international data from UK, Netherlands, China, and the US. Furthermore, I won funding for this conference from Lancaster University
Under the supervision of Dr. Kurosch Yazdi, I interned in the addiction unit of this psychiatric hospital. There I helped in medical research (a case study on an individual with sex/porn addiction) and participated in medical rounds and intake meetings with physicians, psychologists, and therapists.
By shadowing Dr. Elina Jerschow, I gathered experience working in the immunology and allergy department of the Montefiore hospital on the Albert Einstein School of Medicine Campus. There I helped in clinical rounds, gathering patient history, examining patients’ lungs/heart/nose/ears, and observing desensitization to chemotherapy/other allergies, allergy testing, and allergy shots. Furthermore, I helped with medical research by gathering articles on carboplatin-induced heart attacks due to patients having heart attacks after desensitization to chemotherapy.
