Androgynous Point of View: Two Gender Perspectives in One Body My name is Marie Michael Fairman and I have always been a woman. I say that, because I did not seem to be a woman for most of my life. In fact, while I appeared so much as a male, I have lived most of my life as a male named Michael Eugene Fairman. How I got to the place where people see me as woman is a good story and you can visit my website www.mariefairman.com and read or hear my testimony about my journey. What I want to share in this blog is how I see the world through much different eyes than I did before. Some of it is growing older, but a lot of it is hormones. Women do see the world through a slightly different prism than men. I know, because I remember still how men see things as well. Hence the name of the blog I chose. Whether it’s sports, politics, grocery shopping, religion, my personal relationships - everything and anything I encounter, I see from my present perspective and remember from my past perspective. Even more evocative is the way men and women treat me when they meet me for the first time now. Also fascinating and often heart rendering is how those who have known me for a short while or all my life have reacted to my transition. This isn’t going to be a man versus woman sort of thing. It will be more like an observation of gender. Notice I didn’t limit it to just two. More than ever, I know that when we limit God’s Creation, we limit God, which is impossible. Bottom line, the world is changing. I hope I will be able to open eyes to that changing world and ALL of our reticence to change.
