Supported Employment Specialist
Promoting inclusive workplaces with Cork employers enabling people with learning difficulties access and participate in the workplace.
Team Lead in Doras Training & Employment Development Services. A specialist training and employment service for young adults with intellectual disabilities\autism. Delivered QQI level 3 & 4 in employability skills and general learning. Managed the day to day operations of the training centre, upholding its reputation as a centre of excellence in learning for people with intellectual disabilities and/ autism. Managed individualised PCP plans, delivered successful outcomes for students. Supported individuals requiring intensive interventions and supports to teach their full potential.
Doras Training Services, Cope Foundation
Managed an inclusive horticultural employment service for people with mental health difficulties and different abilities. Created a shared space offering a therapeutic and mindful environment for people to discover their skills and abilities. In addition, through FAS, the programme supported long term unemployed people to up skill in plant husbandry and self employment options.
Co-ordinated the planning and production of horticultural produce in a community based setting, incorporating small farm holders, unemployed people seeking a career in horticultural and including people with disabilities referred by the National Rehabilitation Board. Supported participants to set up their own businesses, vegetable shop and delivery service, in conjunction with FAS employment service.
Taught young school leavers the fundamental skills in plant husbandry,ornamental design, and garden maintenance skills. Explored career opportunities for the jobseekers in the horticultural sector in the Kilkenny area.
