Marian Appiah is a trained engineer in Food Processing with a master’s degree in Food Quality Management. She comes with over 6 years of experience working across food systems in West Africa Currently she works in project management with an International NGO as a lead for anglophone countries overseeing the implementation of nutrition strategies to aid in eliminating micronutrient deficiencies among the vulnerable population in West Africa. She has also worked with the National Regulatory Body in Ghana as a regulator ensuring that food safety parameters are monitored and complied with in the food processing value chain to ensure public health is protected.She has worked as a Farm Auditor assessing high value export produce (Pineapple, Cocoa beans) against the Rainforest Alliance certification in Ghana and Nigeria. Marian is passionate about food and its nexus between health, socio economic development. Marian is a team player and is always excited about what holds next for her to do!
I oversee project implementation of Large Scale Food Fortification(LSFF) objectives in the West African anglophone countries (Ghana, Liberia , Sierra Leone , Nigeria and Gambia) by collaborating directly with national partners The Catholic Relief Services LSFF project aims to increase nutrition amongst the vulnerable population across West Africa through food fortification initiatives to reduce micronutrient deficiencies.
Part of the third cohort of field program apprentices for PFS. I was assigned to Eden Tree Ghana Ltd, a renowned agro pack house to assist in building a befitting Quality Management System towards the implementation of HACCP as well as making product development suggestions to enhance the product line.
