Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Maria Bostenaru Dan is an architecture engineer specializing in urban planning, with extensive international research experience in disaster risk, vulnerability, and heritage preservation. She graduated from Universität Karlsruhe (Germany) and holds a PhD from the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism (Bucharest), where she is currently a research scientist (grade III). Her work sits at the intersection of architecture, urban studies, and disaster risk, with a strong interdisciplinary and international orientation. She has been awarded three Marie Curie Fellowships and has conducted research in Germany, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Romania, and Canada. Her work has also been supported by national institutions such as the Canadian Centre of Architecture, the German Research Foundation, Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (in Romania) and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. She has contributed extensively to European research networks (including COST Actions and ESF NeDiMAH), taking on coordination and management roles and supporting international collaboration. Her experience includes: - research and project management - evaluation and review of research proposals and projects - academic publishing (author and editor of multiple books) - long-term involvement in international scientific events (EGU General Assembly session convener) She is also engaged in interdisciplinary and applied research, including collaborations with NGOs and contributions to cultural and scientific initiatives.
