Creator of QUATRES (a novel assessment tool for Realist Reviews). Contributor to the Mater Hospital AF Registry on long-term outcomes, & spinal research. Before medicine, I was a competitive swimmer. That discipline taught me how to stay poised under pressure, something I carry into the hospital everyday. My goal? To become a physician who challenges convention, brings precision & purpose to every patient encounter.
I was honored to receive a competitive scholarship to help lead the development of QUATRES, a first-of-its-kind, quality assessment tool for realist syntheses. Collaborating with top researchers from the University of Washington, University of Exeter, UCL, and UCD, we’re setting a new standard for rigor in evidence reviews. My role? Orchestrating Delphi consensus rounds with global experts to define what "high-quality" evidence really means, because when policies and programs depend on this research, there’s no room for guesswork. Beyond that, I dive into systematic reviews, ethics coordination, and data extraction (the nitty-gritty of Covidence). It’s a mix of big-picture thinking and precision execution. Every day sharpens my skills in research design, stakeholder collaboration, and critical appraisal, while pushing me to innovate at the intersection of methodology and real-world impact.
I am working as a Clinical Student Researcher on the Redo Mapping Study within the Atrial Fibrillation (AF) Registry at Mater Hospital, under Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick. A critical investigation into repeat catheter ablations for atrial fibrillation (AF). Why does this matter? Because AF is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia, and when first-line treatments fail, patients face higher risks of stroke, heart failure, and hospitalization. Our study aims to improve outcomes by analyzing electroanatomical mapping data to pinpoint why some ablations succeed while others require reintervention. My role spans the full research lifecycle: Data collection & management. Meticulously tracking procedural details, complications, and long-term arrhythmia recurrence. Regulatory compliance. Upholding ethical standards (ICH-GCP, HIPAA) while navigating the complexities of real-world cardiac data. This isn’t just about numbers; it’s about translating findings and patterns into better protocols for repeat procedures, ultimately giving patients with persistent AF more effective treatment options.
Directing all communication strategies for the Irish-Jordanian Medical Collaboration (IJMC), leading the planning and execution of workshops, community events, and external partnerships across Jordan and Ireland.
