Lead business development and grant making system of humanitarian and socio-economic projects for starting operations in Ethiopia. Main responsibilities: • Designed country´s strategy plan of Farmamundi in Ethiopia. • Developed and resourced mobilized of humanitarian action and socio-economic projects aimed at providing assistance and protection to most vulnerable communities of Ethiopia affected by the North of Ethiopia conflict. • Built and managed partnerships with national implemented partners and donors. • Designed M&E system and produced reports to donors.
Lead technical advisor and co-manager of the NEPAD-Spain Fund for African Women Empowerment managed by the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD. Member of the technical management team as Spanish technical advisor at the AU-NEPAD Headquarters' office. Member of the NSF Steering Committe(g Main responsibilities: • Designed and implemented the NSF regional strategy plan. • Developed and managed 80 partnerships grant agreements with national and regional stakeholder’s grass roots women’s associations and networks, NGOs, Ministries and Regional Economic Commissions (RECs) for the implementation of 80 projects focus on: GVB prevention, assistance and mitigation, improve access to Sexual and Reproductive Health, increase women economic empowerment and leadership participation. • Coproduced annual mid-term and annual progress reports, including lessons learned and best practices of the interventions. • Managed external outreach and regional advocacy activities on economic women empowerment, women’s rights and GBV, including high level events at African Union Summits and regional policy dialogues events. • Innovated knowledge management system for national and regional interventions, including good practices and lessons learned from multifaceted programes across the continent. • Facilitated the joint external evaluation and financial audits of the Fund. • Implemented fundraising strategies and sustainability plans of programs. Mobilized a second disbursement of 10 million Euros for the second phase of the Fund. • Coordinated and monitor the implementation of two regional programs implemented in partnership with the Regional Economics Commissions, ECOWAS and COMESA on women’s business entrepreneurs.
Management of development and humanitarian projects implemented in North and South of Ethiopia in partnership with Ethiopian Red Cross (ERCs). Main responsibilities: • Formulated and resource mobilization for rural development projects and humanitarian aid projects. Donors: AECID, European Union, Catalan Government and Spanish locals' governments. • Elaborated annual planning, budgets and Mou's with counterparts. • Designed and managed results-based M&E system of the projects. • Lead technical team of 2 program managers, 3 field officers and finance officer. • Managed partnership with donors and local authorities, including Spanish Cooperation, International Federation of Red Cross, European Union Delegation, World Bank and European Union Embassies. • Innovated on gender equality into rural development and humanitarian programs of the Ethiopian Red Cross. • Developed projects progress reports. Provided technical support in revising output tracking and reporting systems to ERCs staff.
Management of Community Services projects of the three Sudanese refugee camps (80,000 refugees) established in Gambella, Western of Ethiopia by UNHCR. Main responsibilities: • Designed the strategy of implementation of the Education, Health, and GBV and Community Services programmes of the refugee community. • Lead team of 3 community services field officers. • Innovated systems to address and monitor Sexual Gender Based Violence and drop off girl’s education prevention and response in the refugee camps. • Lead the capacity building of the national staff on Gender Equality and Equal Access to Education of refugee women and girls. • Monitored the implementation of the projects, and develop progress reports. • Managed partnerships with local authorities and Implementing Partners. • Designed and facilitated participatory Evaluation on Gender, Age and Diversity.
Management of the Africa Regional Liaison Unit activities in the framework of cooperation with the African Union, NEPAD and Regional Economic Commissions. Main responsibilities: • Customized and facilitated awareness and advocacy campaigns on refugee situations in Africa. • Managed partnerships with African Union and Regional Economics Commission. • Facilitated resources mobilization activities, including regular updates of reports on the financial situation of UNHCR Programmes in Africa, African Ambassadors field visits to African refugee camps. • Coordinated external outreach and including a) IGAD Ministerial Regional Conference on Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced persons (January 2007 Nairobi, Kenya), b) AU Ministerial Conference on Refugees (April 2007 Ouagadougou), c) UNHCR High Commissioner's visit to Ethiopia and the African Union, (Nov 2006).
