I am an experienced and committed secondary teacher and school leader. I have worked in Cambridge International Education, at the British International College, for the last 15 years, as English and History lecturer and campus principal. During my tenure as principal, I developed a series of academic and skills improvement programs, focusing on philosophy, culture and personal development. I have a love and enthusiasm for history and languages, and for creating opportunities for students to acquire the skills and confidence needed to flourish in these exciting and challenging times.

Teach History to students from Checkpoint (Year 8) to A-Level (Year 13), and English to A-Level students. The student body contains learners from nationally and ethnically diverse groups. I employ a range of teaching strategies, including lectures, cooperative learning, one-on-one instruction and inquiry-based instruction. Create versatile lesson plans, aligned to the curriculum standards and assessment outcomes, which also provide opportunities for students to learn to love history and language. Formulate a classroom management system which works on the premise that student performance improves when they are convinced of the desirability and benefit of studying English and History. This lead to an increase in enrollments for history and a rise in student classwork completion and engagement. Incorporate current events, economics, politics and geography into the classroom. This encourages students to consider their citizenship and societal responsibilities, and results in lessons that are animated and relevant.
Taught History to IGCSE and A-Level students, and English to A-Level students. Was responsible for creating and teaching academic enrichment programs called Philosophy and Culture (PLC) and Personal Development Programme (PDP). These were weekly programs that integrated critical thinking skills, philosophy, culture, personal development, global perspectives, and current affairs. The programs rested on two legs, firstly, to build context, and secondly, to use that knowledge to launch investigations which built skills like analysis, evaluation, communication, independent thinking, cultural awareness and empathy. Acted as intermediary between the lecturers on the Pretoria campus and the British International Group Head Office in Johannesburg. Decisions at the group head office had to be communicated to lecturers and implemented in a timeous and professional manner.
