About

Stumbled into the start-up industry in 2010 by accident and being passionate about it ever since. From the first days working as a manual tester in IT, it didn´t took me long to realize that I have found my calling when I wrote my first lines of code. Since then I worked with a lot of inspiring people which helped me forge to what I am today, having the chance to do the following things along the way: - build countless integration/e2e test frameworks, mostly for Web apps or pure backend services, but also for some mobile apps - combining Ruby, Cucumber and Selenium comes natural to me, similar to using Docker and putting things together in a Jenkins pipeline - worked with most of the tools/services which are industry standard today such as AWS, GCP, kubernetes, github, etc... - build internal scripting tools and a few RubyOnRails backend services - build performance tests with JMeter - setting up an inhouse auto-scaling Selenium Grid - worked with 3rd party integrations such as Salesforce, Auth0, Twilio, Stripe, Adyen to name just a few - also worked with Terraform on the infrastructure side and with the Apache Pulsar message streaming platform - no stranger to using JavaScript or Java, but no as sufficient as with Ruby Besides doing the hands-on tasks I also: - worked as part of the tech lead team at Quandoo for 2 years, focusing on managing the QA side of things with a QA team of up to 8 people - managed a lot of time critical releases, helping teams to focus on what is really important when it comes to ship something new to production - helped to define working guidelines (definition of done), setting up domain models, etc... - tutored colleagues, e.g. helping manual testers making their first steps to become automation engineers Even though my experiences could have also lead me to a pure backend, full-stack developer or DevOps kind of role, I do enjoy my work as part of a QA team as automation engineer as in the most cases it gives me the chance to introduce different approaches to an often underdeveloped part of the SDLC and how automated tests can benefit us in our daily lifes inside a tech team.
