When I was young, I got my first computer (Commodore 64) and it was love at first sight. It was also the first time, that I understood that computers are not for gaming only but also for programming and learning. And the Basic shipped with the C64 would satisfy my desire to understand both. Since then I made computer technologies my passion, continuing with MS DOS/Windows on my 386 & 486. As a young man I had not enough money to buy a new computer but I needed a modern OS for my 486. So I gave Linux a try and there it was again, that love at first sight feeling I had when was I young and got my C64. Linux also cemented my wish to become an IT Professional. Additionally, Linux tought me to have an open eye for other technologies like different operating systems, hardware and programming. Over the time I continued teaching my self about Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Storages, SAN, NAS and improving my programming skills. Even though I do not actively support or maintain IT infrastructure anymore, I still use Python, Perl and VBA for automating my work. This passion for IT remains with me and there is still much more to learn for me, more to experience for me, and more to automate for me.
