Berlin, Berlin, Germany
I am the founder of ArtFacts.Net, the leading archive and analysis site on contemporary art which launched in 2001. Since the release of the Artist Ranking System in 2004, ArtFacts.Net has developed into a premiere research tool for the art industry worldwide. Before becoming an internet entrepreneur I was trained in Galerie Brusberg in Berlin (one of the cofounding galleries of the first art fair in the world, the Art Cologne) from 1987 to 1990 I then pursued my degree in Business Administration from 1990 to 1994 at Freie Universität, Berlin. With my background in Business Administration and many years experience working with various galleries and software companies, I have been actively producing database enhanced websites for the art world from 1995 though 2000. During this period, some of my achievements in Art related IT projects have been the development of a gallery administration software, an art fair visitor guiding system for Art Cologne, art education software for the German Gallery Association and a pan-European database for the European Gallery Association. I have won acknolegment for my internet activities, for example 1996 I was nominated one of Germany's top 5% web sites and in 1998 was nominated as one of Europe's best in multimedia by the EU Commission. In 2004, I have developed the "Artist Ranking" tool within ArtFacts.net which allows you to see and measure different artists productivity and success in the primary art market. In the art industry, ArtFacts.Net (AFN) is recognized for two things: Undertaking the compilation of the world's largest online archive and exhibition history of Contemporary Art dating back to the Salon des Refusés (1863) and the Artist Ranking System. AFN's extensive data and monitoring system is a widely used research tool by Art Educators, Collectors, Dealers, Art Funds and Curators with our Top Data and Artist Analytics. AFN has been referred to as the Bloomberg, the Dow Jones, and the Consumer's Report of the Art Industry. AFN uses its vast amount of data to bring true transparency to the art market. Since 2020 I am actively working with artificial intelligence and have been a major influence of the newly launched price advisory app Limna.ai.
