I have 7 years of research experience in tissue engineering and biology. Currently, I am looking to develop a research career outside academia. I quickly adapt to new environments. Throughout my research career, I completed internships abroad and moved to Belgium for my postdoctoral position. I value teamwork and a supportive work environment, but I am also used to taking responsibility and working independently. I enjoy interdisciplinary teamwork and have experience in bridging engineering and biology to address complex research challenges.
My research combined fundamental lymphatic biology and tissue engineering, under the guidance of two supervisors specialising in each field. This interdisciplinary setting enhanced my targeted communication skills. Moreover, I received training on science communication to the general public. Grant writing: - 5 individual fellowship applications - FWO, EMBO, MSCA (idea drafting, experimental design, data collection) - contributed to two FWO research project applications (the application G0A7126N was funded, 577.000,00 EUR, 4 years). Supervising the master's student internship (Diana Ditu, UC Louvain).
My interdisciplinary project focused on designing a microfluidic model of the blood vasculature: combining engineering (device design, 3D printing and soft lithography), chemistry (PDMS surface modifications) and biology (cell culture, immunofluorescence). Presentation and public speaking: - Active research dissemination at conferences (6 talks, 1 poster). - Department representation in the Institutional evaluations conducted by the International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB) in 2019, 2021, and 2023. - Recognised as one of the top three presenting PhD students (2019). Supervising: - The laboratory course Basic Techniques in Biochemistry (16 students, two semesters) - The bachelor's thesis of Petra Lišková
